Ondarte Residency
/ Ondarte February exhibition is on tonight! I have spent the past month here in Mexico drawing, painting, exploring, swimming with turtles, peeling oranges, drinking beer, eating fajitas, saying yes to everything and being misled by the kindness of Mexican people. It has been amazing here and i can’t wait to show all of the work i have been doing here on my website!  ONDARTE INTERNATIONAL...

Akumal - Residency
A few days ago I hopped on a plane from Sydney and headed to the mayan jungle In Akumal Mexico, a small town about 150km south of Cancun, for a month long artist residency. The first night I arrived here I was driven here in the dark for an hour or so, I had no idea where I was, it was too dark and i was way too jet lagged to know what was going on, it did not feel like I was in Mexico.  The first...

Some Inspiration
I have always really loved the work of Charles and Ray Eames, I have probably posted their powers of ten video 50 times, a little while ago I watched a documentary on their studio and a few weeks ago a new documentary about them came out “the architect and the painter” I just got myself a copy of this and I’m pretty excited to watch it!

Wonderland City
I just finished off this illustration for Australian Traveller magazine, The article is about Wonderland City, a place i had no idea existed until i illustrated this, In 1909 tamarama beach in Sydney was a theme park, the whole beach was filled with rollercoasters, carousels, seals, elephants, rides, an aquarium, it was absolutely amazing, sadly it was closed and dismantled in 1916 and there is...

This is all that remains
I will never forget the day, I was in year ten, about 15 years old, I had worked all week on an assignment, the night before the due date my father went on to the home computer (this was about ten years ago, when everyone shared computers) all of a sudden I hear it… BAM… something bad had happened, he crashed the computer, my files were fucked, I was pissed, my dad, he didn’t...

Thank you
First day back at work, realised it is still a public holiday and most people are at the beach or sharing a drink with friends in a park somewhere… but that pretty much sums up my 2011, I have never worked so much in my life and I have never been happier. I worked on projects with the most amazing people that I could have once only dreamed of working on, I filled too many books with too many...

Inspiration
Ok, so i get asked a little bit about how I come up with ideas and what not, so I have decided to do a little post about it. Here Goes… On the left, aggges ago I found this image of bikes piled up on top of each other. I had been given a pretty open brief by Monster Threads, however it had to be relevant to their customers, i trawled through my inspiration folder and found this, then with...

This is a Tough
I am working on an ongoing series of illustrations. The series is a way to observe my day a little differently, most days are spent getting to the studio, drawing, thinking etc about briefs and I just wanted to look at things in another way, looking past the obvious, or just stating the obvious in a silly way. It’s the kind of mindfulness for example, you can look at a tree and think “that...

A little editorial illustration for Australian Traveller. This was a really fun little illustration, I often have people ask the process of illustrations and i thought in the coming weeks i would do a little tutorial on this image of how it all cones about, client brief, references, sketch, changes and final. check back in a week or so if you would like to see this.  Adam
