Solo Exhibition - China Heights Gallery - June 1st
June 1st I will be exhibiting a series of work I created earlier this year while on residence in Akumal, Mexico. Below is the invitation and following that is a little about the series. I am only back in Australia for a couple of weeks and would love to see everyone at the exhibition.

No one is perfect. No one is the same yet we are all the same, we are defined by what we put out to society, what we take in and what others take from us. One can be defined by a single gesture, an item of clothing they wear, or the job they work. This series, “Personality,” represents the view from another - how others see us, how they remember us, what their view of our personality is.
The mixed media series was created by the artist while on residence in Akumal, Mexico earlier this year. The concept of the series was envisaged after Adam begun researching the makeup of personality, ones inner conscious and the public perception that follows, by conducting a series of personality tests and researching multiple personality theories.
Here, Adam attempts to represent the many layers of individual personality through the use of carefully chosen colours, textures, lines and shapes. The resulting pieces show that while no one trait is superior to another, within the public sphere some personality traits are recognized more readily. It is how society gravitates toward specific traits that decides how we are perceived. As living beings acting on impulse without a discernable pattern, our personality can never be fixed. Ultimately it is the characteristics we display on the surface that make up others’ minds of who we truly are.
